John Roberts

John Roberts

Undergraduate Student

John is from the Syracuse, New York area and is a fourth-year physics major at UChicago.  He is working on mid-infrared HgTe colloidal quantum dot photovoltaic detectors.

Kevin O’Connor

Undergraduate (Feb. 2014-- Jun. 2014)

Kevin grew up and attended Salesianum High School in Wilmington, Delaware. While there, he spent two summers doing condensed matter research under then Chair, Dr. George Hadjipanayis of the University of Delaware Physics and Astronomy Department. Specifically, he was charged with testing the magnetization and crystallization properties of a proprietary AlNiCo alloy as well as assisting with some imaging analysis for other projects. Having joined the PGS group in early 2014, his current research centers on developing an inkjet-printing-based method of depositing patterns of colloidal quantum dots with the aim of producing infrared detectors. Entering his third year as an undergraduate physics major, he enjoys spending his free time training and competing in triathlons as well as playing guitar.
